Getting a ‘bigger bang for buck’ from your change programmes - David Miller's presentation from APM event in London

On the 23rd of January David Miller presented Getting a ‘bigger bang for buck’ from your change programmes for APM’s Programme Management SIG in London.

If you are interested in the presentation you can view the slides and also listen to the audio recording.

During the presentation David considered that when programmes fail to meet their goals there could be a number of reasons why, but more often than not it’s because people haven’t committed to the new ways of working or they struggle to change their skills and behaviour.

Pulling on Changefirst’s practical experience of over 16 years he discussed – using practical examples and ‘war stories’:

  • Why change management is critical for successful benefits realisation
  • Business drivers for using change management
  • The role of programme managers in change management
  • Six drivers of successful change:
  1. Sharing change purpose
  2. Creating effective change leadership
  3. Engaging the organisation
  4. Building committed local sponsorship
  5. Connecting to people
  6. Sustaining personal performance
